Coniston Massacre Poem
They rode in on horses,
armed and ready
They were sent to arrest criminals,
for reasons many
They arrested 2 men,
And continued to search.
They rode in day after day,
raid after raid
Murdering helpless citizens,
(they had no right)
They killed men, women and children,
with no regard for precious life
100 people died that August of 1928,
yet no one was brought to justice.
But the voice of the public was heard,
and massacres were never again to occur.
